Description Technical Specs Extended Information

It's a tough situation — you want to keep your factory-installed car radio, but you'd love to be able to listen to MP3 music you've recorded on CDs. Kenwood has the solution! The 10-disc KDC-CMP59FM CD/MP3 add-on changer connects to any factory (or aftermarket) receiver through its antenna input, and plays your favorite CDs (as well as CD-Rs and CD-RWs) through the FM tuner.

The KDC-CMP59FM will also play your MP3-encoded CD-Rs and CD-RWs. You can store up to 10 hours of your favorite music files on one disc, so load up this changer for days of entertainment! You control all changer functions with the wired display/controller unit or the wireless remote control. The 4-step output level settings let you adjust the changer's volume to match your radio. Three mounting angles (0°, 45°, or 90°) give you plenty of options for installation.

Antenna adapters might be required — if you haven't already done so, please enter your vehicle information (click on "What Fits My Car?" above) and we'll include them free with your order.

Features
  • Modulation Frequencies: The modulator has 12 FM modulation frequencies. You can select the following modulation frequencies from the display unit: 87.7, 87.9, 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.1, 89.3, 89.5, 89.7, or 89.9MHz.

  • Digital Optimum Servo Control (DOSC): This circuitry enables the CD changer to determine each disc's reflection rate and the modulation rate of its pits, enabling the changer to set the ideal servo gain for each disc. DOSC also adjusts servo gain and balance when it encounters vibration, scratches, dust, or fingerprints, reducing mistracking and skipping.

  • Precision Digital Timing (DPAC): A high-precision master clock circuit that is isolated from signal-processing circuits to eliminate interference. This ensures that digital information is processed at exactly the same rate as it was recorded, eliminating jitter (time-based errors that make music sound harsh).

  • Integrated Quad 1-Bit Digital-to-Analog Converter: Four digital-to-analog converters, two for each channel, improve playback sound quality, including musical detail and resolution. Using two converters for each channel reduces distortion by half.

  • Anti-Vibration Disc Transport: The disc transport mechanism uses soft butyl rubber insulators for exceptional shock resistance, along with ceramic-injected silicon oil that absorbs jarring vibrations even at extreme temperatures, reducing skipping and mistracking.

  • MP3 Playback: This unit can play MP3 files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. Each disc should have a maximum of 8 directory levels, 50 folders, and 255 files per folder. During MP3 playback, the following functions are available:

  • Folder up/down (folder numbers displayed; folder names not displayed)
  • File up/down (file numbers displayed; file names not displayed)
  • File audible search
  • Direct Album Search: using the supplied remote control, you can directly access discs
  • Direct File Selection: using the supplied remote control, you can directly access files
  • File Repeat Play: repeats the current file
  • Folder Repeat Play: repeats the current folder
  • File Scan Play: plays the first 10 seconds of each file in a folder
  • Random Play: all files in a folder are played in random order
  • Pause
  • Resume Play: if the unit is shut off while an MP3 CD is playing, the next time the unit is turned on, playback will resume from the point where it left off
  • Dynamic Control: This feature automatically controls the level and separation of the FM modulator output to better match the FM radio's input, resulting in reduced noise and distortion when playing CDs.

  • Modulation Level: The modulation level can be changed to match the FM level and can be set to one of 4 levels.

  • Direct Track Access: Using the wireless remote, you can directly input the track number that you want to hear.

  • Repeat Play: You can select Track Repeat or Disc Repeat. Track Repeat mode repeats the current track and Disc Repeat mode repeats the current disc.

  • Track Scan: The changer will play the first 10 seconds of each track in succession.

  • Disc Scan: Using this function, you can play the first 10 seconds of each disc.

  • Random Play: This unit can play all of the tracks on a disc, or all files in an MP3 folder, in random order; when playing an MP3 disc, the entire disc cannot be played in random order, unless it consists of a single folder.

  • Mounting Angles: You can install this changer at a 0-5 degree, 40-50 degree, or 85-90 degree angle. There are angle switching dials on both sides of the unit that must be set to agree with the mounting angle of the unit.
